So, yes, it's been a little while since I posted on here. Let's just say that with two small ones, a new house, new school and new responsibilities I neglected this blog of mine. I hope to be a bit better about posting from now on, but that remains to be seen.

Here's this years Halloween costumes. Kai wanted to go as Yoda and well, Milla currently has the perfect size and proportions for an Ewok. Jason beautifully worked out the Yoda mask and I sewed the rest (robe and Ewok hood).

I hope everyone's new year is off to a good start. It's been a while since I've managed to post here. I wanted to share a little bit of last week's Polo themed birthday party for Kai. Jason made some fishing poles inspired by Joel , and I painted some masks and made a mural tree house for decorations. All in all, I think Kai had a pretty good 5th birthday.

So I have some exciting news. My Little Sparrows illustration has made it on to a Target shirt! Thanks in part with a collaboration with Kelly Lynn, from Little Paper Planes. Also up is a new bird illustration in the shoppe.

My friend Anastasia and I went to the Springfield Antiques and Flea Market this past weekend and had a great time looking for vintage treasures. My favorite find was a kids watercolor set from England. I'll try and post a picture of it soon.

Kai saw me knitting a scarf last month and decided I needed to knit him one too. It's almost finished. Although he probably won't use it until next fall.

I'm excited about sewing a few of the projects from Lotta's Sewing for Baby book for our little girl on the way. Yep, we're having a baby in July!

Here's an illustration I completed late last year but forgot to post (here and in the shop) due to the holiday chaos and illness that occurred shortly after it's completion. At least it's posted in time for Valentine's. :)

So sorry about my absence from this blog. After Tiny Canary I came down with a terrible cold that turned into an infection. I didn't have much energy for much besides taking care of my kid and my orders. All is better now though.

If you noticed the light posting this week, it's because I was finishing up my kokeshi doll for the upcoming Kokeshi exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum opening in July. If you are in L.A. go check it out. There are some really amazing artists that were invited to participate.

On a side note, Kai took a tumble on our concrete patio steps on Tuesday, now he's got a big scratch across his nose and forehead. Thank goodness it was a pretty minor fall and his wounds have been healing really fast. I guess putting a foam helmet on his head until he's 18 would probably be a little overkill.

This weekend we spent mother's day with the whole family. We worked on our garden and planted more vegetables with the help of my dad. I will have photos of the actual garden (this photo is from a house down the street) soon once everything comes into place. :)

Stef and I went to watch our first match of roller derby (!) on Saturday. Once we figured out how the game is played, it was really exciting to watch, especially since both local teams won their match. I really love my friend Stefanie. She's incredibly resourceful, good humored and helps me get the boy out of the house and visit some really fun places around Columbus. Places I probably wouldn't go to otherwise. One of these places is Cosi, a fantastic local science museum. If you are ever in Columbus looking for something to do with the fam, this is one place to go.

Kai is currently infatuated with trains including train tracks. Like right now, as I'm typing, he's singing the Thomas and Friend's theme song on my lap. So what better trip to take than to our local train tracks?
